55th All India Bhaskar Rao Nritya and Sangeet Sammelan Begins March 12

Pracheen Kala Kendra brings a three-day celebration of Indian classical music and dance to Tagore Theatre, featuring legendary national artists.

A Grand Celebration of Indian Heritage

Chandigarh | The city is set to witness a magnificent display of Indian classical arts. Pracheen Kala Kendra recently announced the 55th All India Bhaskar Rao Nritya and Sangeet Sammelan during a press conference at the Sector 27 Press Club. This prestigious three-day festival will run from March 12 to March 14, 2026, at Tagore Theatre.

The event honors the rich musical legacy of Guru Bhaskar Rao Bakhale. Historically, the festival began in 1969 and has since featured India’s most iconic performers. Consequently, it has earned a distinguished national identity over the last five decades.

Stellar Lineup for 2026

The Governor of Punjab and Administrator of UT Chandigarh, Gulab Chand Kataria, will inaugurate the ceremony. He will light the traditional lamp to formally begin the festivities. Meanwhile, the opening day features renowned vocalist Indrani Mukherjee. Additionally, Vidushi Vidya Subramanian will present a captivating Bharatnatyam performance.

Regarding the initiative, Kendra officials stated:

“This conference serves as a powerful initiative towards the preservation and promotion of Indian classical art, offering a platform for both legends and rising stars.”

A Symphony of Music and Dance

The following days promise an equally enchanting experience for art lovers. For instance, Sitar maestro Pandit Purbayan Chatterjee will perform alongside Satyajit Talwalkar. Furthermore, the audience can expect soulful melodies from flutist Pandit Ronu Majumdar. Odissi dancer Sharmila Biswas will also grace the stage with her troupe.

Consequently, the festival provides a unique opportunity for Chandigarh’s residents to experience world-class talent. Meanwhile, Kendra is expanding its horizons this year. They are collaborating with Maharaja Sayajirao University for a special extension in Vadodara on March 21 and 22.
