Pickleball is a fast-growing paddle sport that is gaining massive popularity. It essentially combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis. Players use solid paddles and a lightweight perforated plastic ball. Furthermore, they compete on a smaller court with a net. Matches generally go to 11 points, and players need a two-point margin to win.

Unlike standard events, the NIPC uses a unique franchise model. First, registered players enter an official auction pool. Then, team owners strategically select their squads. Army Veteran and NIPC Founder Brig HPS Bedi explained this innovative format. He stated, “This system ensures balanced teams and fosters a competitive league environment.”

Moreover, the league promises a high-energy, thrilling experience for fans. It will proudly feature over 140 talented participants. Additionally, competitors will battle for a substantial ₹25 lakh prize pool. Meanwhile, the highly anticipated player auction will take place on April 5 at the Chandigarh Club.

NIPC Director Neeraj Mehta also outlined broader developmental goals. “Beyond the tournament, NIPC plans to develop world-class playing infrastructure,” Mehta explained. Furthermore, the event will host multiple categories for diverse skill levels. These explicitly include advanced, intermediate, youth, and 50+ player divisions.

Consequently, Season 1 will showcase top-seeded Indian talent alongside professionally managed teams. Corporate partners also showed immense support for this sporting initiative. A.J. Singh, Director of Tynor Orthotics, emphasized their brand’s strong commitment to fitness. “NIPC aims to establish a long-term, professional pickleball ecosystem,” Singh noted.

Similarly, franchise owners expressed great enthusiasm for the upcoming season. Amit Sood, CEO of GB Legends, said they want to make North India a key pickleball hub. Dr. Jasbir Singh and Ravinder Singh echoed these positive sentiments. Ultimately, local associations agree this structured league will powerfully drive regional grassroots development.
