Party leaders hoisted the flag and visited karyakartas’ homes to mark 46 years of the organization’s journey.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) marked its Foundation Day on April 6, 2026, with immense fervor across Chandigarh. The primary celebrations took place at the party’s state office in Sector 33. Chief guest Ravinder Raina, a National Executive Member and former Jammu & Kashmir State President, led the event alongside State President Jitender Pal Malhotra.

Initially, Ravinder Raina performed the ceremonial flag hoisting to commence the programme. Several key leaders attended, including State Vice President Rajkishore and General Secretaries Ramveer Bhatti and Sanjeev Rana. Meanwhile, many karyakartas gathered to witness this symbolic start to the day’s festivities.
A significant highlight of the event was the recognition of veteran members. The party honored Jatinder Chopra, Deshraj Tandon, and Purushottam Mahajan for their lifelong dedication. These veteran karyakartas played a crucial role in building the organization into the world’s largest political party. Consequently, their sacrifices served as an inspiration for the younger generation present.

During his address, Ravinder Raina reflected on the party’s history since its founding on April 6, 1980. He stated, “The journey from Bharatiya Jana Sangh to the present day has been powered by the tireless efforts and sacrifices of countless karyakartas.” Furthermore, he emphasized that the BJP remains committed to nationalism, good governance, and the principle of Antyodaya.
Following the main event, leaders shifted focus toward grassroots connectivity. Raina and Malhotra visited the residence of senior member Jatinder Chopra to install the party flag. Additionally, they organized similar programs in Faida village, Kazehri, and Maloya. These actions aimed to reinforce organizational strength at the local level.

The celebrations extended beyond the state office to all 35 mandals in Chandigarh. Party office bearers visited homes down to the booth level to engage with workers directly. Therefore, the event successfully strengthened the bond between the leadership and the grassroots. Ultimately, the large turnout reflected the party’s expanding influence in the region.
