2 Held in Amritsar for Spying for Pakistan’s ISI

Amritsar, Punjab – In a major breakthrough, Punjab Police has arrested two individuals for alleged espionage activities linked to Pakistan’s intelligence agency, Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), said Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav on Sunday.

The accused have been identified as Gurpreet Singh alias Gopy Foji and Sahil Masih alias Shali. Acting on intelligence inputs, the Amritsar Rural Police apprehended the suspects in a covert operation.

DGP Yadav, in an official statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), revealed that Gurpreet Singh was in direct contact with ISI operatives and is suspected of leaking sensitive information using pen drives. The key ISI handler in this case has been identified as Rana Javed.

During the arrest, two mobile phones used for communication with ISI operatives were also seized. Authorities believe these devices played a crucial role in relaying classified details across the border.

“This was a major intelligence-based operation. The investigation is currently underway to dismantle the broader espionage-terror network and trace all collaborators,” said DGP Yadav.

The Punjab Police has intensified its efforts to crack down on cross-border espionage and terror modules, especially in border areas like Amritsar, which remain vulnerable to foreign infiltration and subversive activities.
