Faridkot, Punjab – In a major crackdown under the ongoing “War Against Drugs” campaign, the Faridkot Police and district administration on Sunday demolished an illegally constructed building in Chhajjgharh Mohalla of Jaito town, linked to notorious drug traffickers.

The action was led under the supervision of Faridkot SSP Dr. Pragya Jain, who confirmed that the building was constructed unlawfully by Bimla Devi and Nachhattar Singh — both facing multiple cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Demolition Backed by Legal Sanction and Security Cover
According to officials, the demolition was carried out after obtaining clearance from the competent authorities, and tight security arrangements were put in place to avoid any untoward incident. Senior administrative officers including Naib Tehsildar Sukhwinder Singh and Executive Officer Maninderpal Randhawa were present during the operation.
“We had issued repeated notices to the occupants, but they failed to comply. The illegal property was demolished after exhausting all due process,” said Randhawa.
Long Criminal History of Owners
The accused have a long and serious criminal record:
- Bimla Devi: 2 cases of drug trafficking
- Rajni (daughter-in-law): 5 NDPS cases
- Soni (son): Booked under IPC
- Nachhattar Singh: 4 criminal cases, including 3 under NDPS
- Banso (wife): 3 cases, one under NDPS
“These individuals are repeat offenders and major contributors to the local drug trade,” SSP Dr. Jain said, emphasizing the importance of such action in disrupting organized narcotics networks.

War Against Drugs: Results So Far
Between March and June, the Faridkot police have:
- Registered 329 drug-related cases
- Arrested 492 accused, including several key traffickers
- Frozen properties worth ₹4.90 crore, allegedly acquired through the drug trade over the last 10 months
“This is a clear message that anyone profiting from drug trafficking will face legal, financial, and structural consequences,” added SSP Jain.
A Clear Message to Drug Mafias
The joint police-administration action highlights the Punjab Government’s zero-tolerance policy toward narcotics. Officials say that more such demolitions are expected in the coming weeks as property seizures and bulldozer action become key strategies in breaking the drug economy.
