Israel-Iran Ceasefire ‘Now in Effect’, Trump Claims as Jets Turn Back

Trump says Israel-Iran ceasefire is now in effect as jets stand down. Initial violations noted, but both sides now appear to be complying.

Washington: US President Donald Trump on Tuesday declared that the ceasefire between Israel and Iran is officially “in effect,” after both sides showed signs of compliance following initial violations. Trump announced on his social media platform that Israeli fighter jets had been ordered to “turn around” and refrain from further attacks.

Iran Israel ceasefire

“ISRAEL is not going to attack Iran. All planes will turn around and head home, while doing a friendly ‘Plane Wave’ to Iran,” Trump wrote, signaling a pause in hostilities after 12 days of intense conflict in the Middle East.

This announcement comes after Iran launched missile barrages at Israel early Tuesday, reportedly killing at least four people. In retaliation, Israel struck an Iranian radar installation but held back on a broader offensive following a phone call between Prime Minister Netanyahu and Trump.

Earlier, Trump expressed his dissatisfaction with both countries for violating the agreed ceasefire timeline. “They violated it, but Israel violated it too,” he told reporters before departing for the NATO summit in The Hague. “I’m not happy with Israel,” he added, referencing an Israeli strike that occurred shortly after the ceasefire was announced.

Despite the initial flare-ups, Trump’s mediation appears to have stabilized the situation—for now. Iraqi and Iranian airspaces have reopened, and commercial flights are resuming, according to Flightradar24. However, both sides remain on high alert, and observers warn that the ceasefire’s longevity remains uncertain.

Netanyahu confirmed that Israel had achieved all of its strategic goals during the 12-day conflict, including neutralizing Iran’s ballistic missile threat. “Israel will respond forcefully to any future violations,” he cautioned.
