BJP Slams Congress Over Criticism of ‘Swachhta Se Swagat’ Cleanliness Campaign

State spokesperson Naresh Arora advises the opposition to examine its own track record before questioning the ruling party’s genuine public service initiatives.

CHANDIGARH: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Chandigarh Pradesh has launched a sharp counterattack against the local Congress leadership. BJP State Spokesperson Naresh Arora strongly objected to statements made by Chandigarh Congress President H.S. Lucky regarding the ruling party’s civic initiatives. Recently, Lucky had dismissed the BJP’s ongoing “Swachhta Se Swagat” (Welcome Through Cleanliness) drive as a mere political stunt and gimmick.

Arora forcefully argued that such remarks reflect deep political frustration. Furthermore, he noted that playing politics over basic public welfare issues like sanitation is highly unfortunate.

The spokesperson emphasized that the Swachh Bharat Mission has successfully transformed into the country’s largest public movement. Therefore, the “Swachhta Se Swagat” campaign represents genuine civic responsibility rather than a political show. Arora firmly asserted that labeling this initiative a gimmick directly insults thousands of voluntary workers and citizens.

“H.S. Lucky’s statement clearly shows the political frustration of Congress and its negative mindset toward public service,” Arora stated. “Congress has already been taught a lesson by the public. Today, people look at actual work done on the ground rather than empty rhetoric. The BJP remains fully committed to making Chandigarh clean, beautiful, and developed.”

Meanwhile, the BJP leader challenged the Congress President to transition from press statements to active field participation. Arora suggested that if the opposition genuinely cares about urban sanitation, leaders should pick up brooms themselves. Consequently, this constructive participation would benefit the city much more than constant negativity.

Ultimately, the ruling party reaffirmed its dedication to local infrastructure and cleanliness. While the opposition relies on critical press releases, the BJP intends to continue its grassroots campaigns across all city wards. The party concluded that public service will always triumph over political blame games.
