BJP Slams Congress Over PM Modi’s Historic ₹4,700 Crore Chandigarh Development Projects

State Media Incharge Ravi Rawat advises the opposition to abandon its “politics of lies” and accept the massive transformation in regional healthcare and infrastructure.

CHANDIGARH: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Chandigarh Pradesh has strongly hit back at the local Congress leadership. BJP State Media Incharge Ravi Rawat sharply refuted recent criticisms made by Chandigarh Congress President Harmohinder Singh Lucky regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit. Rawat labeled the opposition’s claims as completely baseless, misleading, and born out of deep political frustration.

BJP hits back at Congress on Chandigarh development

Furthermore, the BJP leadership asserted that accusing a Prime Minister who has just dedicated development projects worth over ₹4,700 crore to Chandigarh and the Northern Region exposes an anti-development mindset. Rawat noted that instead of asking 17 rhetorical questions, Congress must first account for its own decades of local misgovernance.

BJP leaders highlighted that the Central Government has made a historic investment of nearly ₹1,200 crore to upgrade PGIMER Chandigarh alone. Consequently, this funding completely transforms regional healthcare by adding state-of-the-art infrastructure and advanced medical research facilities.

“Cleanliness, healthcare, and development are our core pillars,” Rawat stated. “Congress neglected healthcare infrastructure for decades, whereas under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP Government is creating a new benchmark in modern healthcare. The people of Chandigarh clearly understand that BJP does not merely make promises—it fulfils them.”

Massive Upgrades in Public Healthcare and Education

The massive ₹1,200 crore PGIMER investment has already yielded critical medical facilities for the public. For instance, a new 300-bed Advanced Neurosciences Centre now offers specialized care for complex brain and spinal disorders. Meanwhile, the freshly dedicated Advanced Mother and Child Centre ensures high-end treatment for newborns and pregnant women.

In addition, the foundation stone for a 150-bed Critical Care Block has been laid under the Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission. This new facility will significantly boost emergency response capacities for Chandigarh, Punjab, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh. Meanwhile, medical education received a major boost as the central government increased MBBS seats at GMCH-32 from 150 to 200.

Resolving the Legacy Waste Crisis

Addressing the controversial Dadumajra landfill issue, Rawat pointed out that Congress ignored the massive garbage mountain for decades. Conversely, the BJP-led administration has brought its scientific disposal to the final stage. Recently, Chandigarh Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria launched a massive plantation drive at the site. Therefore, an area once known for poor waste management is rapidly turning into a clean, green zone.

Ultimately, the BJP concluded that the ₹4,700 crore worth of active projects serve as the ultimate answer to opposition rhetoric. While Congress continues to rely on political spin, the BJP remains fully committed to delivering tangible, life-changing infrastructure.
