Chandigarh: As part of the ongoing “Clean and Green Park Awareness Drive” launched by the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation, a cleanliness drive was carried out in the Green Belt of Indira Colony, Manimajra on Day 2 of the 10-day campaign. The initiative was supported by social organizations Don Bosco Navjeevan Society and Omkar Charitable Foundation.

Present during the event were Ward Councillor Suman, officials from Don Bosco Navjeevan Society, Omkar Foundation Chairman Ravindra Singh Billa, and staff members from the Municipal Corporation.
Local children actively participated in the drive, going around the green belt picking up litter and urging residents to keep their surroundings clean. Their efforts were met with appreciation and support from the community.
Ward Councillor Suman expressed gratitude to the Municipal Corporation and the partnering NGOs for conducting the campaign in her ward. She emphasized the importance of collective action and praised the childrenâs commitment to promoting cleanliness.
âThe way children moved around, collecting waste and spreading awareness, was truly inspiring. If we all support their appeal, there is no reason Chandigarh can’t secure the top spot in the next cleanliness survey,â she said.
Speaking on the occasion, Ravindra Singh Billa highlighted that on the second day of the campaign, efforts were focused on Indira Colonyâs green space. He praised the coordination between the area councillor, civic officials, and youth volunteers from the âSwachh Yuva Doot â A Brigade for Cleanlinessâ initiative.
Children involved in the campaign educated residents on maintaining the cleanliness of public areas just as they would their own homes â encouraging a community-driven approach to a cleaner, greener city.
