Assam CM meets Union Minister Manohar Lal; Power discusses issues related to urban development

New Delhi: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday met Union Power and Housing and Urban Affairs Union Minister Manohar Lal and discussed matters related to the power sector and carried forward the initiative of urban development in Assam. During the meeting, Chief Minister Sarma discussed to strengthen the state’s energy infrastructure.

The meeting also considered adequate resource adequateness and accelerated the pace of development of power plants coming in the state. Chief Secretary, Dr. Ravi Kota, Chief Minister, Dr. KK Dwivedi and resident Commissioner, Assam Bhavan, Principal Secretary of Kavita Padmanabhan, participated.

Later, taking X, Chief Minister Dr. Sarma posted, “There was a productive discussion with Hon’ble Minister Shri @Mlkhattar Ji on strengthening the energy infrastructure of Assam. We discussed to ensure resource adequate and accelerate the growth of new power plants across the state.”

CM Sarma also met the Union Minister for coal and Khan ji Kishan Reddy in Delhi and urged him to extract new minerals. During a detailed discussion at the Union Minister’s office at Shastri Bhavan, CM Sarma requested Reddy to remove new minerals and make seamless coal relations for upcoming thermal power plants in the state.

The Chief Minister also urged the Union Minister to expand the field of operation in Margerita coal mines so that Assam can increase its coal income. Reddy assured Sarma that he would look into the requirements of Assam in the field of coal and mines important to fuel the economy. In its official X handle, CMO Assam said, “The discussion focuses on strengthening Assam’s mineral capacity and cooperation in the mining sector.”
