BJP Leads Massive Cleanliness Drive in Dhanas Under Seva Sankalp Abhiyan

Party leaders and local residents join hands in Chandigarh to advance the Swachh Bharat mission through voluntary public participation. Chandigarh: The Chandigarh unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party organised a major cleanliness drive in Dhanas on Saturday. Led by State President Jatinder Pal Malhotra, the initiative forms part of the ongoing Seva Sankalp Abhiyan. The month-long campaign runs from September 17 to October 17. In addition, it marks the birth anniversary of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Party workers gathered inside the vending zone of the four-storey EWS Colony in Dhanas. Meanwhile, scores of local residents arrived on site to clear litter alongside volunteers. Several prominent party leaders attended the event to support the community effort. National Sah-Sangathan Mahamantri Saudan Singh and Chandigarh Mayor Saurabh Joshi actively joined the sanitation drive. Furthermore, programme convenor Bharat Kumar, Ravi Rawat, Sonu Sarpanch, Councillor Manoj Sonkar, and former Mayor Rajesh Kalia participated alongside workers. Addressing the gathering, State President Jatinder Pal Malhotra outlined the broader vision behind the movement. “Cleanliness is not only the responsibility of the government but also the duty of every citizen,” Malhotra stated. He reminded attendees that Prime Minister Narendra Modi made sanitation a people’s movement from the ramparts of the Red Fort in 2014. Mayor Saurabh Joshi also highlighted the civic duty required to preserve the city’s green spaces. He noted that administrative work alone cannot preserve Chandigarh’s beauty. “Active participation of citizens is essential for a cleaner Chandigarh,” Joshi said. Therefore, he urged residents to adopt hygienic practices in their daily routines. Through combined dedication, local residents and BJP workers turned the campaign into a meaningful public success. Consequently, the programme proved that community cooperation can swiftly transform civic sanitation into an active, everyday habit.
