Haryana: More than 20 lakh people to participate for collective yoga practice on 11th International Yoga Day

Chandigarh: Chief Minister of Haryana, Sh. Naib Singh Saini has taken a historic step by embracing the message of “Yoga for One Earth, One Health” by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi on the occasion of 11th International Yoga Day. As a result of this initiative, more than 2 million people across the state will participate in yoga sessions on 21 June.

Sharing information in this regard, an official spokesperson said that yoga programs will be held on June 21 in all 22 districts and 121 blocks of the state. More than 20 lakh citizens will come together to practice yoga.

So far, more than 12.10 lakh people have registered themselves through the portal to participate. As part of the “Green Yoga” campaign to promote environmental awareness, more than 70,000 plants have already been planted.

The state-level main program will be held at Brahma Sarovar in Kurukshetra, where the Chief Minister, Sh. Naib Singh Saini and other dignitaries will participate in yoga practice with thousands of doctors in the presence of Yoga Guru Swami Ramdev.

In particular, in 2014, Prime Minister, Narendra Modi introduced yoga on the global stage at the United Nations General Assembly. With the support of 177 countries, 21 June was declared as International Yoga Day, through which India gave the world the path of peace, health and harmony.

This year’s Yoga Day theme highlighted the role of yoga in promoting physical, mental and environmental welfare. It aligns with global calls for unity and stability, the spokesperson said.

The spokesman further stated that to promote yoga at the grassroots level, the Haryana government has set a target of construction of 1,000 Vyayamashals in rural areas.

So far, 714 have been completed and 877 Ayush Yoga assistants have been appointed. On June 21, 2025, special yoga programs will also be organized in these persons.
