Gangster Romil Vohra Killed in Police Encounter Near Delhi-Haryana Border

Rs 3 lakh reward criminal, wanted in multiple murder cases, gunned down in joint Delhi-Haryana police operation; two officers injured in shootout.

New Delhi: Notorious gangster Romil Vohra, carrying a reward of Rs 3 lakh, was shot dead in a joint police encounter early Tuesday near the Delhi-Haryana border, officials confirmed.

A resident of Yamunanagar district in Haryana, Vohra was a wanted criminal in at least eight serious cases, including a triple murder in Yamunanagar and the Shantanu murder case in Kurukshetra. He was also booked under the Arms Act by Delhi Police’s Special Cell.

According to Pramod Kushwah, Additional CP (Special Cell), the murders were allegedly carried out under the directions of gangster Kala Rana, recently extradited from Bangkok, and his brother Surya Pratap alias Noni Rana, currently based overseas.

Acting on intelligence from the Haryana STF, a joint operation with Delhi Police was launched near Kishangarh, close to the Delhi-Haryana border, where Romil was expected to attempt another attack.

“During the encounter, Romil opened fire. In the ensuing exchange of bullets, a sub-inspector each from Delhi and Haryana Police sustained injuries. Romil was also shot,” Kushwah said.

All three were rushed to a nearby hospital, where Romil Vohra was declared dead. The two injured officers are receiving treatment and are reported to be stable.

Romil’s violent criminal record and links to organized crime networks had made him a high-priority target for law enforcement. His death is seen as a significant breakthrough in efforts to curb gang violence across Delhi-NCR and Haryana.
