MC Chandigarh Launches ‘Clean and Green Park Awareness Drive’ Across the City

Inspired by Smart City Swachh Survekshan Rank 2, the 10-day campaign aims to promote cleanliness through student participation and community engagement.

Chandigarh: Motivated by its achievement of securing the second rank in the Smart City Swachh Survekshan rankings, the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation has launched a city-wide “Clean and Green Park Awareness Drive”. The 10-day initiative commenced on Monday, August 4, at the New Lake in Sector 42, with the aim to promote civic cleanliness and environmental consciousness.

Clean and Green Park Awareness

The campaign is being supported by Don Bosco Navjeevan Society and Omkar Charitable Foundation. The inaugural ceremony was flagged off by Municipal Commissioner Amit Kumar, Senior Deputy Mayor and Ward Councillor Jasbir Singh Bunty, and Joint Commissioner Himanshu Gupta.

Also present were office bearers of both NGOs, Omkar Charitable Foundation Chairman Ravindra Singh Billa, and local RWA representatives. Commissioner Amit Kumar expressed delight at the participation of children in the campaign. “This young generation is crucial to the success of such drives. Together, we can aim for the top rank next year,” he said.

He also shared his “10×10=100 mantra,” urging citizens to spend 10 minutes cleaning their surroundings, talk to 10 people about cleanliness, and spread awareness within a 100-meter radius.

Senior Deputy Mayor Jasbir Singh Bunty applauded the initiative starting from his ward and praised the children’s enthusiasm. “With community collaboration, we can surely secure the number one position in next year’s cleanliness survey,” he stated.
