In a candid conversation on his YouTube channel, the renowned surgeon and husband of actress Madhuri Dixit, Dr. Sriram Nene shed light on why Bollywood star Anushka Sharma and cricketer Virat Kohli decided to move to London with their family. During a discussion about the cricketer with content creator Ranveer Allahabadia (popularly known as Beer Biceps), Dr. Nene revealed how the constant attention and lack of privacy influenced the celebrity couple’s major life decision.

“I’ll tell you something, and this is what you learn, they all put their pants on one leg at a time. We had a conversation with Anushka one day, and it was very interesting. They were thinking about moving to London because they can’t enjoy their success (here). And we appreciate what they go through, because anything they do attracts attention. We almost become isolated,” he shared.
Dr. Nene further reflected on the struggles public figures face in maintaining normalcy. “I get along with everyone; I’m bindaas. But even there, it becomes challenging. There’s always a selfie moment. Not in a bad way, but there comes a time when it becomes intrusive, when you’re at dinner or lunch, and you have to be polite about it. For my wife, it becomes an issue. But they are lovely people, and they just want to raise their kids normally,” he added.
The revelation offers rare insight into the pressures faced by some of the country’s most loved personalities, and how it impacts their personal choices, especially when it comes to raising a family away from the public glare.
Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli, often referred to as one of the most popular power couples, tied the knot in a private ceremony in Tuscany, Italy, in December 2017. They welcomed their first child, a daughter named Vamika, in January 2021. Earlier this year, the couple became parents again with the birth of their son, Akaay, born in February 2024. While Anushka and Virat have not officially addressed their move, Dr. Nene’s comments provide a thoughtful glimpse into their desire for a quieter, more grounded life for themselves and their children, away from the relentless spotlight in India.
