Coolie v/s War 2: Rajinikanth starrer releases on 1200 screens against Hrithik Roshan and NTR's actioner in Hindi

The biggest showdown of the year between War 2 and Coolie has begun. While the Rajinikanth starrer has taken the box office by storm globally, things are slowly starting to gain momentum in Hindi as well. Seeing a North India release by Pen Marudhar, Coolie is slated to release on 1200 screens in Hindi, which is the second highest for a Tamil film dubbed in Hindi after 2 Point 0. The distributor has managed to get about 3500 shows in Hindi, which is reasonable for a dubbed film in a clash scenario. However, the release size is nowhere close to War 2, which arrives on 5000 screens in Hindi. The Hrithik and NTR Jr. film will be showing a substantial lead with showcasing in Hindi, as in Hindi, it is undoubtedly what Coolie is turning out to be for the Non-Hindi audience.” The battle for showcasing is going on at a super strong pace all across the country, as Pen Marudhar is trying to get some shows in single screens too. “YRF announced it will capture over 90 percent of single screens in India, but the single screen bookings are yet to open as team Coolie is trying to get one show per screen. The negotiations are on, and the single-screen owners are stuck in a fierce battle.” Overall, War 2 is set for a significant lead in North India as the giant force of YRF will always be prefered over anyone else in the North market, but Pen Marudhar is trying to find a way out to get some sort of counter showcasing, to get footfalls on the first day. Fawad Khan-Vaani Kapoor starrer Abir Gulaal expected to release on August 29 globally: Report

Fans of Fawad Khan in India were an excited lot after they learned that his comeback Bollywood film, Abir Gulaal, was all set to release on May 9. But following the shocking Pahalgam attack on April 22, the industry was up in arms against Pakistani artists working in the Bollywood film industry. The opposition was huge and as a result, Abir Gulaal was postponed indefinitely. Many feared that the film might never see the light of day. But it has now come to light that Abir Gulaal is all set to release, that too this month. Fawad Khan-Vaani Kapoor starrer Abir Gulaal expected to release on August 29 globally: Report As per a report in Biz Asia Live, Abir Gulaal will arrive in cinemas globally on August 29. The same report also mentioned that the film has been renamed as Aabeer Gulaal. The report doesn’t mention anything about the India release. But as per industry sources, going by the anger against Pakistani artists, it is unlikely that Abir Gulaal would be allowed a release in the country. An industry insider commented, “The makers of Abir Gulaal will go the Sardaar Ji 3 way. The Diljit Dosanjh-starrer did not get a release in India as it starred Pakistani actress, Hania Aamir. It went on to do huge business overseas. Another Punjabi film, Chal Mera Putt 4, also had a release only outside India and it also became a huge success.” It now remains to be seen if Abir Gulaal also follows the footsteps of these two Punjabi hits, in terms of box office. Intense screen battle between Coolie and War 2 in Telugu states; NTR Jr. flexes his power against Rajinikanth

The box office has turned into a battlefield in Telugu as War 2 and Coolie have engaged in an intense screen battle in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Reliable sources confirm that Asian Cinemas and Sitara Entertainment are fighting it out for prime time shows in the Telugu states. “With NTR Jr. as the lead, War 2 will eventually win the showcasing battle in Telugu states. However, Suniel Narang, the owner of Asian Cinemas, is going out of his way to secure 40 percent screen for Coolie,” a trade source shared with Bollywood Hungama. The trade source informed that the exhibitors in Telugu states are, however, in favour of Naga Vamsi, as NTR Jr. is one of the biggest local stars, and none are willing for a face-off with him. “NTR Jr. is an influential personality, same for Naga Vamsi. No one is willing to upset them. The intense face-off between Coolie and War 2 will end soon, and the latter will get strong showcasing in the Telugu states. Approx. 62 percent of the screens will go to War 2, leaving just 38 percent for Coolie,” the source told us further. While Asian Cinemas are trying for a 60:40 ratio, Sitara Entertainment is hoping to secure screens in the ratio of 70:30 in its favour. Director Bharat Shrinate’s Udaipur Files finally hit theatres across India on Friday, August 8, following months of controversy and a prolonged legal battle. Trouble began soon after the teaser’s release, when Kanhaiyalal’s family raised objections and filed a petition in the Rajasthan High Court. They argued that the film was causing them “mental agony” and could “spoil social harmony.” This led to a temporary stay on the release. In July 2025, the Supreme Court overturned the stay, ruling that making a film on a true incident is not illegal, as long as it does not violate constitutional limits. The court’s decision cleared the way for the movie to be certified by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and released for the public. Originally titled Gyanvapi Files: A Tailor’s Murder Story, the film was initially scheduled for release on July 11, 2025. However, its debut was postponed due to the legal proceedings. The Supreme Court ultimately directed its release on August 8. The Rajinikanth led Coolie is turning out to be a box office hurricane as the film has surpassed all expectations in the advance booking. With 6 days to go for release, Coolie has sold tickets worth Rs. 27 crores in the international markets, making it the best advance of all time for an Indian film outside of Baahubali 2. Leading from the front is the US, followed by Malaysia, the UAE, and Australia/New Zealand. Isha Talwar recalls Shanoo Sharma’s “weird” audition request early in her career: “It shattered my confidence”

Popular Bollywood casting director Shanoo Sharma, known for discovering fresh talent for some of the industry’s biggest films, recently sat down for an interview with The Hollywood Reporter to discuss her work on the newly released film Saiyaara. However, a post related to the interview sparked a wave of candid revelations from actors who have auditioned for her in the past. Isha Talwar recalls Shanoo Sharma’s “weird” audition request early in her career: “It shattered my confidence” Isha Talwar Recalls “Weird Ask” During Early Audition In the comments section of the post, actress Isha Talwar opened up about an unusual audition she was asked to perform early in her career. She recounted, “So when I started auditioning for roles with Shanoo… I was told to perform a scene at a restaurant called Mia Cucina in Versova, Bombay… a CRYING scene in the middle of a busy working restaurant with customers dining next to my table. I was told I should have no inhibitions as an actor and hence I should be able to do a crying scene with Shanoo sitting in front of me and some of her assistants… It was such a confusing/weird ask… it shattered my confidence as a young girl in films.” Talwar went on to say she felt an audition should be conducted in a proper casting space or, if required at a real location, one should be hired for the purpose. She added, “I do remember saying I can’t do it and of course I never got the role… but at least I didn’t give in to the weird ask and surely didn’t cry at a restaurant for a role!” Sharing her story “a decade later,” Talwar said she wanted newcomers to feel “no pressure” if faced with similar situations. Huma Qureshi’s cousin Asif Qureshi killed in Delhi’s Jangpura over parking dispute; neighbours arrested

In a shocking incident late Thursday night, Bollywood actress Huma Qureshi’s cousin, Asif Qureshi, was killed following a violent altercation in Delhi’s Jangpura area, allegedly sparked by a minor parking dispute. What began as a routine request to move the vehicle escalated into a heated argument. During the confrontation, the neighbour, identified as Ujjwal (19), allegedly attacked Asif with a sharp object, inflicting severe injuries. Another accused, Gautam (18), also joined in the assault. The attack was captured on CCTV, with footage showing Asif being dragged and attacked by the two men. Police said Asif had a history of disagreements with the accused, and the victim’s wife alleged the killing was deliberate and conspiratorial. “My man has been deliberately and conspiratorially killed,” she told the media, adding that past clashes had occurred between the parties. Asif was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival. The CCTV footage of the attack has since surfaced online. Har Ghar Tiranga – Har Ghar Paudha Campaign Launched at PGGCG-11 Chandigarh

Event blends patriotism and environmental awareness, inspiring youth to pledge tree plantation in every home. Chandigarh: Post Graduate Government College for Girls (PGGCG), Sector-11, Chandigarh, today witnessed a unique blend of patriotism and environmental responsibility with the launch of the “Har Ghar Tiranga – Har Ghar Paudha” campaign. The initiative was organised by Jai Madhusudan Jai Shri Krishna Foundation under the guidance of the college Principal, Professor Dr. Rama Arora, and with the special cooperation of Dr. Salil Sharma. Environmental activist and former Flight Engineer (Indian Air Force), Prabhu Nath Shahi, founder of the Foundation, graced the occasion as the chief guest. Over 150 girl students participated enthusiastically, pledging to support environmental conservation under the Foundation’s Bharat Abhiyan program. The event commenced with the symbolic presentation of a sandalwood sapling and the national tricolour by Mr. Shahi to Dr. Sharma. In his address, Mr. Shahi emphasised that environmental protection is not solely the government’s duty but a shared responsibility of every citizen. “When we plant a tree, we not only create greenery but also secure the future,” he remarked, urging youth to embrace slogans such as “Our Environment, Our God” and “Our Work, in the Name of Mother Earth.” Read More: ‘Swachh Yuva Doot – A Brigade for Cleanliness’ Conducts Clean-Up Drive at Valley of Animal, Sector 49 Speakers highlighted the urgent need for tree plantation, public awareness, and citizen participation in safeguarding both the environment and the nation. The event concluded with all attendees taking a pledge to plant at least one tree in their homes. Students Nishtha and Sandipana played a notable role in ensuring the program’s success, leaving a strong message of unity between patriotism and environmental care.
