Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said on Sunday that his government is doing untrue work for the good and the good of the weaker and deprived sections of the state.
Addressing a gathering after handing over the loan exemption certificate to the beneficiaries here, Mann said that the previous governments in the state waived the loans of rich people, but did not worry about the welfare of the poor. Mann said, “For the first time in the history of Punjab, this recurrence is being extended to the deprived and weaker sections of the society.”
The Chief Minister said that about 4,800 families of Punjab’s Scheduled Castase Land Development and Finance Corporation (PSCFC) have benefited about 4,800 families of Lone of the 67.84 crore rupees.

On June 3, the Punjab Cabinet indicated to waive an amount of Rs 67.84 crore taken by more than 4,000 Dalit families from PSCFC.
Maan said the discount incorporates all the loans disciplined by the PSCFC by March 31, 2020, providing significant relief to SC and Divyangjan (persons with the disabled) loanees.
This step will benefit 4,727 Lonas for a total amount of Rs 67.84 crore. Government sources said that the scheme would cover all Lonas, including 4,685 defaulting lone and 42 regular lone.
Addressing the gathering, Value Said that the ‘no due certificate’ () will be issued by the state government and the entire amount of Rs 67.84 crore with interest and punitive interest will be reimbursed by the state government to the PSCFC calculated by April 30, 2025.

Lonnes, who get benefits under the first discount schemes, are also eligible for coverage under this initiative, Mann said.
He said that no recovery proceedings will be initiated against Lone and their accounts will be completely set up as a cut-off date.
According to the 2011 census, Punjab has 31.94 percent of the total population of Scheduled Castes and many members of this community have availed the loan from PSCFC to set up self-employment enterprises for the purpose of economic uplift.
However, Mann said that some borrowers were unable to repay their debt due to their circumstances beyond their control, which led to the lapse.

These families could not repay their debt due to circumstances such as the death of the main earning member, prolonged illness, or no other source of income.
The Chief Minister said that recovering these loans from such people was unjust, so the state government has decided to forgive them.
