The Himachal Pradesh Police arrested a botanist in Ponta Sahib, Sirmaur district on charges of treason for allegedly posting anti-national content on its Facebook account after air strikes in Pakistan.
A case has been registered against 45 -year -old Suleman Khan of Saharanpur district in Uttar Pradesh in Uttar Pradesh under Section 152 (sedation) of the Indian Joint Code at Ponta Sahib Police Station. On Monday, Khan was sent to four days police custody. Police said that he has been living in Ward Badripur, Ponta Sahib for the last 15 years.
According to officials, Khan’s anticadents are being verified, and their mobile phones have been confiscated for forensic examination.

Ponta Sahib, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Deputy Superintendent Manvinder Thakur said, “A delegation of local residents filed a police complaint against Suleman Khan. The delegation presented a printout of one of the posts shared by the accused, in which he criticized Indian military action against Pakistan.”
According to the First Information Report (FIR), “Khan indulged in anti-national activities by criticizing India’s military reaction to Pakistan … He also made derogatory remarks against the Prime Minister of India and posted the slogan of ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ on himself. Facebook Account.”
Members of the delegation lodging the complaint include Abhishek Verma, Amarjeet Singh, Kapil Sharma and Vinod Kaushik.
In the last week of May, Himachal Pradesh Police arrested a 21 -year -old man from Kangra to keep “sensitive and objectionable material” on his phone and to stay in contact with individuals in Pakistan through online platforms.
