Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, Jacqueline Fernandez, Sonam Bajwa, Nargis Fakhri, Jackie Shroff, Nana Patekar, Chitrangada Singh, Fardeen Khan, Chunky Pandey, Johnny Lever, Shreyas Talpade, Dino Morea, Ranjeet, Soundarya Sharma, Nikitin Dheer, producer Sajid Nadiadwala and director Tarun Mansukhani attended the trailer launch of their comedy Housefull 5 at a multiplex in Mumbai. The event involved a lot of fun and entertainment and in this feature, we’ll give an overview of the same.

‘Killer’ entry
The teaser of Housefull 5 made it clear that it is about a masked killer. Hence, the actors came on stage wearing mask. Akshay Kumar was the first one to unveil his mask and he introduced everyone in his trademark style. It brought the house down especially when some photographers complained why only men were introduced and why the lovely ladies weren’t being unveiled. Akshay quipped, “Haan bhai, ladies ka chehra dikhata hoon. Baar baar ladies-ladies kar raha hai. Yahaan press conference ke liye aaya hai ya maze lene aaya hai?”

Bindaas Bhidu Jackie Shroff steals the show
During the Q-and-A session with the media, Akshay Kumar was asked about the pranks played on the sets. The actor said, “Trust me, all the pranks were played by Jackie saab!” He told Jackie Shroff, “Dada, prank ke baare mein batao.”
Jackie Shroff, too, made the event fun as he laughed, “Itne bade bade joker hai (in this film) maa ki aankh!” Pointing at Akshay Kumar, clad in a white suit, he said, “Sabse bada hai safed suit mein. He is the number one badmaash. Khade khade shirt kab nikal deta hai malum nahin padta (laughs).”
On a serious note, Jackie then praised the director saying, “Mansukhani took care of everyone. The rest of the gang is all the actors I have worked with before. Kuch log naya hai. Bahut zyada hi naya hai mere baaju mein,” hinting at the heroines sitting next to him.
Jackie also praised Ranjeet, “Goli chacha is my senior and I respect him a lot.” At this point, fans cheered for Jackie and he replied, “All my love to you. Choti bacchi hai kya?” The latter is a dialogue in the film, earlier popularized by his son Tiger. The fans continued to say ‘I Love You’, prompting Jackie to say, “Haan mere baap.”
Sanjay Dutt was absent from the event. Funnily, his cut-out was put up on stage. Jackie Shroff said, “My bhidu is not here, Sanju Baba. We had a blast shooting. We spoke about old memories. Maze liye humne. Tum log bhi lo meri jaan!”
At this point, Sajid Nadiadwala revealed, “Whenever I call him and say, ‘Dada, we have written a very good script for Tiger’, he retorts, ‘Usko chhod. Mere baare mein soch’!”
Nana Patekar’s “Marathi prank” takes the cake
Jacqueline Fernandez, meanwhile, was memorable as she took a long pause when asked about the biggest prankster. Nana Patekar, sitting next to her, took the mic and said, “I speak to her in Marathi. Isse bada prank main kar nahin sakta!” He then communicated with Jacqueline in Marathi, “Tu kashi aahes (How are you?).” Nana then revealed, “I spoke to these actors in Marathi. Forget Marathi, they can’t even talk Hindi properly.”
He, however, added, “There was hardly any insecurity. Everyone worked happily. The credit for it goes to Tarun. Whether it’s Akshay or anyone else, he had the aukat to tell someone if they were going overboard. You can sense that the scene belongs to everyone, not just one actor. Hence, the film turned out to be very good.”
Housefull 5 releases in cinemas on June 6.
