Kurukshetra: A female free tailoring and embroidery training program center was inaugurated today at SH. Guljri Lal Nanda Center for Ethics, Darshan, Museum, and Library, Kurukshetra University. The initiative is organized under the joint efforts of Swavalambi Bharat Abhiyan, Kurukshetra University at Kurukshetra University and the Joint Eastern Union of Kurukshetra University.
Speaking as the chief guest of this inauguration ceremony, Vice Chancellor of Kurukshetra University, Prof. Som Nath Sachdeva emphasized the necessary role of women in India’s progress, which is in progress towards becoming a developed nation.
Pro-Schdeva highlighted the importance of skill-based training for women, especially in areas such as sewing and embroidery, which can contribute significantly to making women self-sufficient. Such an initiative not only supports women becoming financially independent but also strengthens the foundation of a self-sufficient and developed India. Prof. Sachdeva said that the purpose of training is also to add women’s skills to local markets, which is to promote indigenous products and align with the ‘vocal’ movement for local. This perspective is expected to increase women’s income opportunities and promote entrepreneurial culture at the ground level.
Upendra Singhal, Honorary Secretary, Kurukshetra Development Board, said that the training center is an important step towards fulfilling the vision of the late Pandit Gulzari Lal Nanda, who dedicated his life to the cause of women’s empowerment.
Professor Anita Dua, Director Women’s Study Research Center, shared that the Center has already provided vocational training to thousands of women in partnership with the Alumni Association. The current training program will last for six months as part of the ongoing efforts to promote self-reliance in women.
Director of Nanda Study Center Prof. CiSmita said that 60 women participants have registered for the program. The training will be conducted daily by expert trainer Nargis Kirimich. The Nanda Study Center is committed to promoting creativity and skill development through continuous community engagement.
