Mohali): Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja on Wednesday launched a sharp attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), alleging that the ruling party could not work without targeting Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
Waring said, “Is there any BJP agenda that can happen without targeting Rahul Gandhi?”
Asked about the dispute over Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s “one nation, a husband” scheme, he said, “When the Chief Minister made such a statement, I felt ashamed of politicians. What do the public think about us? What do politicians talk? I do not want to comment on these comments.
On Tuesday, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said after a controversy that the BJP has converted the “Operation Sindoor” into a joke, asking if it is a “one nation, a husband” plan. “Have you not seen the fun made of vermilion? What is this – a nation, a husband scheme?” CM Mann said.
The comment by Punjab CM lit the BJP’s criticism with Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu. In a self-made video, Bittu said that the country will not forgive Bhagwant Mann for the words he has used.
“Statements show that the Aam Aadmi Party and their Chief Minister can say that the NDA government at the Center has defeated Pakistan, and you are not able to tolerate it. Will you say anything to show that you will not forgive you for the words used against PM Modi today.”
BJP leader Fatehjung Singh Bajwa called Punjab CM a “embarrassing” comment. “This is very embarrassing. Comedians look good on stage, but Bhagwant Maan does not understand the value of CM’s chair. What kind of joke is this?
Haryana Minister Anil Vij also slammed CM Mann, so that he was asked to take such issues seriously. Vij said, “The Chief Minister of Punjab was a comedian before joining politics. He wants to do comedy in politics. Such issues should be taken seriously and not fun.”
On 7 May, India launched Operation Sindoor on 22 April as a decisive military response for the Pahgam terror attack by Pakistan-respected militants on 22 April in which 26 people were killed. The Indian armed forces targeted terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, causing more than 100 militants associated with terrorist organizations such as Jai-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba and Hizbul Mujahideen.
Following India’s strike on the terrorist infrastructure, Pakistan attempted drone attacks that targeted civil areas along with cross-border firing across the Line of Control (LOC) in Jammu and Kashmir and International Border. In response, India neutralized Pakistani air defense equipment, radar infrastructure, and communication centers, and caused heavy damage to 11 airbase in Pakistan. Subsequently, on May 10, an understanding was announced at the end of enmity between India and Pakistan.
