Ajay Devgn is back as his May 1 release, Raid 2, has taken a good start at the box office in India. According to early estimates, Raid 2 has collected in the range of Rs. 17 crores to Rs. 19 crores on the first day. The film has overperformed vis-à-vis expectations, which were around the Rs. 11 crore to Rs. 12 crore mark.

Raid 2 Box Office Estimate Day 1: Ajay Devgn packs a punch with Rs. 18 crore opening on Day 1; exceeds trade expectations by 50%

The top national chains are looking to collect Rs. 9 crores, which is a strong start, especially for Ajay Devgn, who has a conventional pull in the masses. The film has done well in the mass belts, too, which is a positive sign. Raid 2 is a sequel to Raid, and much like the first part, has a strong chance of becoming a successful venture.

The reports are positive and will ensure a strong trend for the film over the weekend, making it a big money spinner for producer Bhushan Kumar and Kumar Mangat. The film has done best business in Mumbai, Pune, and Gujarat, and the North Indian markets are expected to come on board the film on Saturday and Sunday.

Raid 2 has opened better than Ajay Devgn’s Mahashivratri release, Shaitaan, despite the relatively low commercial value.
