Ajay Devgn, Vaani Kapoor, Saurabh Shukla, director Raj Kumar Gupta and producers Kumar Mangat Pathak and Abhishek Pathak attended the launch of the trailer of their film Raid 2 at a multiplex in Mumbai. As expected, the casting of Vaani Kapoor was spoken about.
Raid 2 trailer launch: Ajay Devgn BREAKS silence on Amay Patnaik’s ‘second wife’; Vaani Kapoor jokes, “No jealousy with the previous one”
In the first part, Raid (2018), it was Ileana DCruz who played the wife of Amay Patnaik (Ajay Devgn). When asked if Amay has got a new wife for Raid 2, Ajay said, “Yes, that’s true (smiles). But the character can change. You see it in a lot of Hollywood films as well. Sean Connery is no longer James Bond, right? It’s the character you follow and then new people keep coming in.”
Vaani Kapoor was asked about the experience of playing the ‘next wife’. She replied, “There was no jealousy with the previous one (smiles). We share a great equation off-screen.”
She then said, “You just need to play the character in the most genuine way possible. You need to follow the brief of the director and the writers. For me, it was more for the experience to be a part of a project like this as it showcases my talent which is different from the one I had showcased in other films. It doesn’t align with anything else that I have done so far. So, it was refreshing for me.”
The journalist also asked if Ajay Devgn is as silent on the sets as he is in real life. Vaani Kapoor revealed, “No, we were quite chatty (smiles). I am also an introvert and it takes time for me as well to open up. Sir was very kind and generous. He even entertained my not-so-entertaining conversations (laughs). I just love the fact that he’s very humble. There’s a lot of humility in him.”
Raid 2 releases in cinemas on May 1.
