SCOOP: Star kid vs Star kid – Agastya Nanda-starrer Ikkis postponed; to clash with Junaid Khan's Ek Din on November 7

Sriram Raghavan is one of the most celebrated filmmakers of our industry. Hence, his next film Ikkis is much awaited. It stars Agastya Nanda and this will be his first theatrical film and second film as an actor after the 2023 Netflix original, The Archies. It is scheduled to be released on October 2 and Bollywood Hungama has learned that the film has been postponed. The decision was taken by producer Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films who felt that the first week of November and post-Diwali time will be ideal for their movie.” An industry insider commented, “This is a good move as two major films are scheduled for a release on October 2 – Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari and Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1. November 7 is a better date in that regard.” Ikkis also stars Dharmendra and Jaideep Ahlawat. It is against the backdrop of the 1971 war and follows the life of second Lieutenant Arun Khetrapal. Agastya plays the war hero in Ikkis. However, even on this new date, Ikkis will not have a solo release. It’ll clash with Ek Din, that also features a star kid – Junaid Khan. It also stars Sai Pallavi and was shot during the beautiful Snow Festival in the town of Sapporo, Japan. It is directed by Sunil Pandey and produced by Aamir Khan’s Aamir Khan Productions. War 2 leaves YRF bleeding with losses of approx. Rs. 60 crores; a bigger embarrassment than Thugs of Hindostan

Within a span of 7 days, everything around the YRF Spy Universe has come crashing down. What looked like a franchise that couldn’t go wrong – with back-to-back 5 hit films – witnessed the first failure since 2012. After successfully delivering Pathaan and Tiger 3 in 2023, the hopes were high for Aditya Chopra’s War 2 with Hrithik Roshan and NTR Jr. in the lead. War 2 leaves YRF bleeding with losses of approx. Rs. 60 crores; a bigger embarrassment than Thugs of Hindostan To make it a tentpole feature spectacle for the viewers, Aditya Chopra left no stone unturned by mounting it on a historical budget of Rs. 450 crores (All Inclusive). However, the production house’s risk has not paid off. Reliable industry sources have confirmed that YRF will be losing big money on War 2. “Around Rs. 150 crores have been recovered from the sale of digital, satellite, and music. The theatrical share in the best-case scenario from here will be Rs. 140 crores from the worldwide box office. This means YRF is set to lose approximately. Rs. 60 to 70 crores on War 2.” The source further confirmed that this is the biggest disaster for YRF in the modern era, along with the Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan film Thugs of Hindostan. “The Monday numbers have come down crashing, and it’s the death of the franchise at this point in time. In fact, the failure of War 2 has also impacted the future spyverse slate of YRF.” The losses to YRF aside, the Telugu distributor of the film, Naga Vamsi, too, will lose 65 percent of his investment. “Naga Vamsi acquired War 2 for Rs. 90 crores, and the Telugu share of War 2 will be less than Rs. 40 crores. He is set to lose over Rs. 50 crores on War 2.” After back-to-back hits in the form of Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, War, Pathaan, and Tiger 3, War 2 is the first failure from the YRF Spy Universe. In a recent press conference, Faissal leveled shocking allegations against his mother, siblings, and Aamir, detailing years of personal conflict and isolation. SCOOP: Coolie shows increased in multiplexes on popular demand; showcasing battle with War 2 gets intense

It’s all volatile in the film industry as the battle between War 2 (Hindi) and Coolie (Hindi) is getting more intense than anyone could ever imagine. In front of a juggernaut like War 2, Coolie is managing to make its way towards the audience. Earlier in the week, Bollywood Hungama explosively reported how YRF has bagged 100 percent showcasing in all single screens, dual screens, and triple screen properties across India, leaving just one/two shows for Coolie in the four-screen properties. The last four days have seen a dynamic shift in showcasing, as the showcasing for Coolie is increasing with every single day. The film initially was slated to release with a capacity of Rs. 8 crore on the first day, but the good advance booking response has now increased the capacity by 60 percent to Rs. 13 crores. While War 2 will be leading in Hindi, there is a high possibility for Coolie to clock better occupancy in Hindi on the day of release, as the size remains to be lower than the demand. A leading multiplex player tells us on anonymity, “Coolie is doing well in the tier 2 and tier 3 centres, and hence we are increasing the shows for the film. There is a demand in the audience, and as service providers, we just have to match that.” Another cinema owner, who owns a two-screen property, told us, “We had strict orders from YRF not to give a single show to Coolie. However, we have now managed to get 2 shows of Coolie at our property, due to the audience demand, and it has started to sell tickets as well.” The names of cinema halls and multiplex chains have been kept under wraps to protect their financial interests, but the shows have already started to increase on the Book My Show platform. Aamir Khan and family responds to Faisal Khan after he accuses them of confinement

In a recent and deeply personal revelation, actor Faisal Khan has accused his family of confining him at home for a year, labelling him as mentally ill and claiming he was subjected to treatment against his will. They emphasized in the statement that all (these) decisions regarding Faisal’s care were made with collective consent and medical guidance. “It is important to share that every choice regarding Faissal has been taken collectively as a family, in consultation with multiple medical professionals, and has been based on love, compassion, and a desire to support his emotional and psychological wellbeing,” the statement reads. The Khan family also revealed that they have avoided discussing these private matters publicly to protect the dignity and privacy of all involved. Coolie tornado strikes War 2 internationally; Rajinikanth starrer grosses Rs. 27 crores compared to Rs. 4.5 crore for War 2

The Rajinikanth led Coolie is turning out to be a box office hurricane as the film has surpassed all expectations in the advance booking. With 6 days to go for release, Coolie has sold tickets worth Rs. 27 crores in the international markets, making it the best advance of all time for an Indian film outside of Baahubali 2. Leading from the front is the US, followed by Malaysia, the UAE, and Australia/New Zealand. Aamir Khan made a path-breaking announcement today, July 29, at a five-star hotel in Mumbai that he’ll release his recent hit film, Sitaare Zameen Par, on YouTube. The superstar has opted for a pay-per-view model, that is, one can pay Rs. 100 film to rent the film. Discussions about such a mode were going on even before the film was out. Aamir was asked about it, but he denied any such plans to many journalists. To all these reports, Aamir Khan, as a thoughtful gesture, apologized for lying. I wanted to protect the theatrical business. Meri shuruaat hui hai cinema se and I am very loyal to theatres. Hence, I’ll make all efforts to protect the theatrical business. Hence, while doing this experiment, we wanted to protect the theatres. As a result, I had to say that I am not bringing my film on YouTube. Woh mujhe kehna pada aur uske liye main maafi chahta hoon. If I had not lied, mera jo sapna tha, woh wahin khatam ho jaata.” Aamir Khan’s decision to bring Sitaare Zameen Par in just six weeks of theatrical release has also raised eyebrows, especially when he often rejected the idea of a film releasing in 8 weeks on OTT. On this, he replied, “Pay-per-view model and subscription model mein zameen aasmaan ka farak hai. When I release my film after 8 weeks on a subscription model, a person who has bought a subscription to that OTT platform is not buying my film per se. He’s paying to access films available on that platform. After a few months, he’ll learn that my film is also available. He may or may not watch it. As a creative person, I’d like to take a thousand steps towards my audience. But I want my audience to take one step towards me. When we opt for a subscription model, we are, more or less, providing the film for free. Pay-per-view is the same model as the theatre. Theatre experience is different. You watch a film with 300-500 people. You laugh, cry and clap together. The theatre is equipped with Atmos sound. That is an experience and this is a different experience. In cinemas, viewers might feel more amazed. But on YouTube, viewers will have the option of convenience. Hence, it was my plan from the beginning to bring the film on YouTube at the end of its theatrical run.” Another journalist asked on the same lines and Aamir Khan said, “OTT is a totally different model. Let me make it clear that I have no objection to OTT platforms. But I don’t like the arrangement that the film has to release on OTT 8 weeks after release. Hence, I moved away from it. Aamir Khan made a path-breaking announcement today, July 29, at a five-star hotel in Mumbai that he’ll release his recent hit film, Sitaare Zameen Par, on YouTube. The superstar has opted for a pay-per-view model, that is, one can pay Rs. 100 to rent the film. However, one can’t permanently own the film, as explained by Aamir Khan. Aamir Khan explains why Sitaare Zameen Par can be rented and can’t be bought on YouTube; reveals that his older productions and that of father Tahir Hussain like Caravan, Anamika etc will also be available on his YouTube channel Aamir said, “You can rent Sitaare Zameen Par for Rs. 100. Let me explain the technicality. Once you rent, the film, it will stay in your account for 30 days. Once you start viewing the film, you have 48 hours to complete the film.” This writer asked if one can pay more to buy the film, that is, have permanent access to Sitaare Zameen Par. Aamir Khan explained, “We were wondering whether to do that or not. We realized that it’s better to take one step at a time. This is something new that we are doing. So, right now, we are only keeping the option of rent. As we go along and as we understand this part better, then we can start offering such options.” He also shared his other plans, “Aamir Khan Talkies is the platform where you’ll get to see films of Aamir Khan Productions like Lagaan, Dangal, Peepli [LIVE], Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, Taare Zameen Par etc. On August 1, you’ll only get Sitaare Zameen Par. A week later, we’ll add more films. This way, the whole library of Aamir Khan Productions will be available on Aamir Khan Talkies. My father Tahir Hussain made movies like Caravan, Anamika etc. Those films will also be available on our YouTube channel.” He added, “Aamir Khan Talkies will have free content as well as pay-per-view stuff. I’d like to upload episodes of my TV show ‘Satyamev Jayate’. I’d not like to charge for it; it can be accessed for free.” He further stated, “I also want Aamir Khan Talkies to be a platform for new, emerging talent. A lot of young filmmakers have made great films and at times, no one buys their movies. So, if we like their films and if they contact us, we’d like to upload them on our channel. It’ll help them to showcase their talent. Whatever that film earns, most of the profit will be given to the filmmaker while AKP will keep the minimum amount as a fee.” As for future plans, he revealed, “Going forward, it’ll be my strategy to bring the film to cinemas first.
