SCOOP: Umesh Bist of Pagglait fame to direct Khosla Ka Ghosla 2; Huma Qureshi no longer a part of the project

Last month, reports came in that a sequel to Khosla Ka Ghosla (2006) is in the offing and that Huma Qureshi is in talks to play the lead role. Bollywood Hungama has learned some interesting aspects about this exciting project. SCOOP: Umesh Bist of Pagglait fame to direct Khosla Ka Ghosla 2; Huma Qureshi no longer a part of the project A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Dibakar Banerjee directed Khosla Ka Ghosla; it was also his first directorial venture. However, he won’t be helming the sequel. Umesh Bist, who made the much-loved Pagglait (2021), starring Sanya Malhotra, and who also directed the 2024 acclaimed Zee5 show Gyaarah Gyaarah, has stepped in as the director of Khosla Ka Ghosla 2.” The source further said, “The makers are confident of Umesh Bist’s direction abilities. He managed to get the dark humour aspect correctly in Pagglait and also excelled in the emotional scenes. Khosla Ka Ghosla 2 also has wicked humour and a family angle and hence, they feel that Umesh will surely do justice.” Regarding the casting, the source revealed, “Huma Qureshi was in talks. However, the talk hasn’t materialized and she’s no longer doing the film. A hunt is on for the female lead.” However, Boman Irani, who played the antagonist in Khosla Ka Ghosla, has come on board. In an interview with Bombay Times on August 10, Boman Irani confirmed that he’s doing the film and also stated, “I am very excited for the sequel. And for the first time and after a long time, I am fearful. We don’t want to make a weak effort to ruin a legacy. We have to work really hard to maintain that legacy of the film that it stood for.” About Khosla Ka Ghosla The first part tells the story of Kamal Kishore Khosla (Anupam Kher), who lives with his family in Delhi. He invests his hard-earned money, amounting to Rs. 30 lakhs, to buy a plot of land in South Delhi. Trouble arises when a powerful builder, Kishan Khurana (Boman Irani), usurps this plot of land and agrees to transfer it to Khosla’s name only if he pays him Rs. 15 lakhs. This is when Khosla’s sons and family friends come up with a novel and amusing plan to teach Khurana a lesson. Huma Qureshi’s cousin Asif Qureshi killed in Delhi’s Jangpura over parking dispute; neighbours arrested

In a shocking incident late Thursday night, Bollywood actress Huma Qureshi’s cousin, Asif Qureshi, was killed following a violent altercation in Delhi’s Jangpura area, allegedly sparked by a minor parking dispute. What began as a routine request to move the vehicle escalated into a heated argument. During the confrontation, the neighbour, identified as Ujjwal (19), allegedly attacked Asif with a sharp object, inflicting severe injuries. Another accused, Gautam (18), also joined in the assault. The attack was captured on CCTV, with footage showing Asif being dragged and attacked by the two men. Police said Asif had a history of disagreements with the accused, and the victim’s wife alleged the killing was deliberate and conspiratorial. “My man has been deliberately and conspiratorially killed,” she told the media, adding that past clashes had occurred between the parties. Asif was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival. The CCTV footage of the attack has since surfaced online. Both accused, residents of the same locality, have been arrested. REVEALED: Huma Qureshi looks menacing in the first look of Baby Die Do Die; also has a Badlapur connection

On July 12, Bollywood Hungama was the first one to inform about the contents of the teaser of Huma Qureshi’s upcoming film, Baby Do Die Do. Now, we bring to you the gritty first look of the action thriller. REVEALED: Huma Qureshi looks menacing in the first look of Baby Die Do Die; also has a Badlapur connection The first look consists of Huma Qureshi looking menacing as she stands on a rainy night holding an umbrella, dressed in an all-black rugged leather ensemble that complements her fierce expression with a white-coloured pigeon flying around. On top of the quirky title, the makers have also mentioned its relevance. Huma’s surname in the film is Karmarkar, which translates to ‘Do Die Do’. What’s also striking about the poster is that she’s standing at what appears to be a railway station that sounds similar to that of Badlapur. While the station’s name in Hindi is mentioned as ‘Vadalpur’, its English translation seems to be ‘Vadlapur’. It immediately brought back memories of the movie Badlapur (2015), starring Varun Dhawan. One of its most famous stills also features Varun standing in front of the Badlapur station nameboard. Incidentally, Huma also starred in the film in a crucial role along with Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Radhika Apte, Yami Gautam, Vinay Pathak and Divya Dutta. It was directed by the acclaimed filmmaker Sriram Raghavan. The first look of Baby Do Die Do was sent by Huma to her fans on Instagram. The Badlapur connection makes one wonder if this is just a homage to her 2015 film? Or will Varun Dhawan appear in a cameo in the film? Only time will tell. Baby Do Die Do is produced by Huma Qureshi and Saqib Saleem under the banner of Saleem Siblings. The one-minute teaser focuses on Huma’s character and describes her as ‘1st desi female assassin’. The film also stars Sikandar Kher but only his voice can be heard in the promo. The asset ends with the lines ‘Badi story, badi screen pe, coming soon, baby!’. Khosla Ka Ghosla 2 in the works; Huma Qureshi to join cast: Report

If the buzz in the industry is anything to go by, Khosla Ka Ghosla 2 is officially in the pipeline, nearly two decades after the cult satirical comedy first hit theatres in 2006. The original film—starring Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, Navin Nischol, Pravin Dabbas, Tara Sharma, Ranvir Shorey, and Vinay Pathak—earned widespread acclaim for its quirky yet grounded portrayal of middle-class Delhi and its battle against corruption and real estate scams. Khosla Ka Ghosla 2 in the works; Huma Qureshi to join cast: Report According to a recent Pinkvilla report, the sequel is now in active development, with Umesh Bisht and his team at the helm of scripting and casting. A source close to the project confirmed, “Khosla Ka Ghosla 2 script is locked and presently in the casting stage. The team is aiming to start by November this year for a 2026 release. Much like the first part, this one too is an outright comic entertainer.” The biggest update so far is the addition of actress Huma Qureshi to the ensemble. The source further revealed, “Huma has come on board as one of the main characters of Khosla Ka Ghosla 2. She heard the script and loved what is on paper. The film will most likely be produced by T-Series, and the modalities are being worked out at the moment.” Interestingly, Huma Qureshi has been expanding her creative reach. Alongside acting, she has launched a production house with her brother and fellow actor, Saqib Saleem. “Huma has also started her own production house with her brother and the first film, Baby Do Die Do is scheduled to release soon,” the source added. While the return of original cast members like Anupam Kher and Boman Irani is yet to be officially confirmed, anticipation is running high among fans who made the first film a sleeper hit. In the meantime, Huma is also juggling a packed slate with the Yash-starrer Toxic, OTT projects, and now, her debut venture as a producer. Fans of the film are quite excited about this news where Khosla Ka Ghosla 2 with its witty tone and timeless relevance is all set to revive the laughter and layered satire that made the first film a classic.
