Aamir Khan opened up about his deeply meaningful experience working with ten neurodivergent actors in his upcoming film Sitaare Zameen Par. In a panel discussion at Bollywood Hungama Style Icons Awards, the actor-producer described the journey as one of the most fulfilling of his career, calling it “a dream come true.”

Aamir explained that the casting process for the film was treated just like any other. “We followed a regular casting process. Our casting director shortlisted talents for the neurodivergent characters. Then the director, casting editor, and I sat together and finalised the selection,” he said.
Post-casting, the team conducted two workshops and several script readings to ensure everyone was comfortable on set. “People often assume it would be more time-consuming working with neurodivergent actors — that they might forget lines or slow down the shoot. But in fact, it was incredibly smooth,” Aamir shared. “They have no egos. They come to set happy, excited, and full of energy. They’re ideal team players.”
Reflecting on the larger experience, Aamir pointed out something profound. “It was a dream working with them. During the climax shoot, I realised something — on most sets, even when brilliant minds are working together, egos clash. Directors, DOPs, costume teams — disagreements happen. But these ten actors brought such positive energy and joy. It reminded us of the power of love and teamwork.”
