International scuba divers mesmerize visitors with underwater stunts; Sanjay Tandon lauds their talent and uniqueness
Chandigarh, August 8:
Former BJP Chandigarh President and Himachal Pradesh BJP co-incharge Sanjay Tandon inaugurated the much-awaited “Mermaid Carnival” at Housing Board Light Point Dussehra Ground with great enthusiasm. The event, which officially opened to the public on August 7, features an extraordinary display of underwater acrobatics by a team of 20 internationally trained and certified sea scuba divers.

Visibly impressed by the underwater stunts, Tandon praised the performers’ artistic abilities and called the carnival a “unique experience for Tricity residents.” He commended the organizers for consistently introducing new and innovative attractions over the past four decades to entertain the local community.
Organized by Apex International, directors Sunil Kumar Goyal and Alankeshwar Bhaskar revealed that this is India’s largest and first-of-its-kind Mermaid Carnival, offering both adventure and entertainment. The divers will not only perform stunts but also interact with visitors by posing for selfies outside the water.
The carnival boasts a grand entry gate decorated with towering mermaid cut-outs that are sure to captivate visitors. Inside, guests are treated to a world of fantasy featuring swings, children’s rides, shopping stalls for home décor, furniture, handicrafts, and a variety of food options.
Popular rides like Giant Wheel, Columbus Boat, Caterpillar, Break Dance, and Boating are joined this year by new international attractions – Double Disc and Striking Cars – being introduced for the first time.
Adding to the vibrancy, the carnival will host daily stage performances, open to the public to showcase their talent. To ensure visitor safety, organizers have deployed private security, fire safety systems, and CCTV surveillance throughout the venue.
The Mermaid Carnival promises an unforgettable experience, merging thrill, culture, and creativity under one roof — a must-visit event for families in Chandigarh.
