Though Andaz Apna Apna (1994) featured Salman Khan and Aamir Khan in the lead and stole the show, the other supporting actors also contributed immensely to the madness. One of them is Tiku Talsania. He was memorable even though he was only present in two scenes. As an inspector waiting for a criminal to inaugurate the newly-constructed lockup, he raised a lot of laughs. During the re-release of Andaz Apna Apna, the handle of the film posted his video, where he jokingly said that people should go to theatres to watch and that “Wahaan pe bhi mujhe talaash toh rahegi kisi ribbon kaatne waale ki!” A few days before the re-release of the comic caper, the veteran actor spoke exclusively with Bollywood Hungama about the film and a lot more.

How did you react when you learned that Andaz Apna Apna would return to cinemas on April 25?
I reacted very positively to it. How have people reacted to it?
They have also responded very positively…
Exactly, as the film is so well-made. And the experience of working on the film was very good. We all had a lot of fun.
Can you share your memories?
It was a long time ago. The most fun we had was with Santoshi saab (Rajkumar Santoshi). He told us, ‘This is not my film. This is everybody’s film’. Hence, everyone was given a free hand. We all wanted to improvise. Whatever he liked, he kept. Or he would instruct us, ‘Ab yeh mat bolna’ or ‘Ab yeh line bolna’. That made the whole process fun.
How was it working with Aamir Khan and Salman Khan?
It was fun working with them. Nobody was against each other and they had a great camaraderie.
The film didn’t do as expected at the box office…
Yes, and later it became a cult on television. That was not the case initially. I don’t know what happened later and the film then just took off. My son loves the film and posses its CD since a long time.
There’s a lot of demand for Andaz Apna Apna 2…
I’d love it if that happens. I’ll get more work (laughs). Andaz Apna Apna 3 and Andaz Apna Apna 4 should also be made. But it should be an authentic film and made in a nice way, just like the first part. One should not make a sequel just for the heck of it.
Is there any particular film of yours that you feel should also get a re-release?
I feel all my films should get a re-release (laughs)! This is because I have poured my heart into each and every film. Sirf kaam karne ke liye kaam nahin kiya.
A film that stands out in your filmography is Hungama (2003). The scene where you kiss Neena Kulkarni assuming that she’s asking for a peck and the way you get electrocuted as a result is one of the funniest scenes ever. A lot of memes and gifs have been made on it. Are you aware of it?
No, I don’t as nobody sends me the memes. I am not very well-versed with social media. Hence, I don’t know how to go about it.
That meme is quite used especially during Kiss Day, which is celebrated just before Valentine’s Day…
This reminds me. I came across a video where it seemed like I am asking for a kiss and saamne Salman Khan khade hai. I was like, ‘Yeh kya hai? Salman dekhenge toh bhadkenge mere pe’ (laughs)!
